TEDDY
By
Chief Swift Eagle
Hello, one-eyed Teddy
It's been such a long time
Since last we cuddled
Just like this and my troubles were thine.
Your nap is worn in places
But you look quite smart to me.
Your side could stand a stitch or two
Or perhaps even three.
Have you been lonely through these years
While I grew to be a man?
Your chest is still stained from my tears
When I lost my Mommy's hand.
And couldn't find her anywhere -
And we were lost at the zoo
Do you remember, Teddy?
We didn't know what to do.
I'm glad we're back together
At last after all this time
I wouldn't have another bear
That's why I made this climb.
I knew that I could find you here.
But now I think I'll call you "Ted"
Let's go down from this dusty attic.
You can come with me to bed.
