FURRY LOVE
By
Chief Swift Eagle
I gave my wife a ball of fluff.
It purred and sighed and mewed.
It slept and stretched and licked and clawed,
And on my slippers chewed.
The kitten grew to an adult.
She did just as she pleased.
She ate or played or rolled about
And when she felt she teased.
Who scratched the couch? I asked
Even though I knew
But when you love a cat
What are you to do?
A cat that lets you live with her
And lets you pet her fur
And if you are attentive
Rewards you with a purr.
What can you do when you like to hear
The patter of four light feet
Chasing bell-ball through the house
When you have gone to sleep.
I guess we're both out of our heads
Scheduling for our cat's time.
But I honestly think it's what you can expect
If you adopt a feline.
