I'D RATHER BE A FROG
By
Chief Swift Eagle

I wish I were a frog
On floating lily pad.
I would sit and bask all day.
It would not be half bad.

At night I'd croak a lullaby
To lady frog by moonlight.
We'd share a floating lily pad
And trap small bugs in their flight.

It may not sound like much to you.
But then you're not a frog.
Don't knock it till you've tried it.
You might enjoy the bog.

The swamp is cool by day,
And nice and damp at night.
You must watch out for 'gators.
They can give you quite a fright.

Snakes do sometimes slink along
Hoot owl eyes me for his plate.
Otherwise, it's a perfect place,
For keeping a late date.

I wish I were a frog.
I think it would be neat-o.
And besides, you know, I'm very tried
Of being a mosquito.
